What Are Time Lords?
In Hellenistic astrology, Time Lords are the planets that govern specific periods of life. At any given moment, certain planets are activated. Their natal significations move to the foreground, and transits touching those planets suddenly matter more.
This is why timing work feels sharper than generic transit reading. Time Lord techniques are natal-based systems. They unfold from the chart itself, then transits trigger what has already been activated.
Without timing techniques, every transit looks equally important. With them, you can tell the difference between background weather and the chapter actually opening.
Annual Profections
Profections are beautifully simple. Starting from the rising sign at birth, the chart advances one whole sign per year. At age 0 the 1st house is activated, at age 1 the 2nd, and so on until the cycle repeats every 12 years.
The ruler of the activated sign becomes the Lord of the Year. Chaldea calculates the current profection automatically, identifies the ruling planet, and treats transits to that planet as especially significant.
This explains why the same transit can land very differently at different ages. Saturn crossing your 7th house in a 2nd-house profection year is not the same event as Saturn crossing your 7th in a 7th-house profection year.
Zodiacal Releasing
Developed by Vettius Valens, Zodiacal Releasing is one of the most powerful timing techniques in the tradition. It breaks life into major periods, sub-periods, and deeper layers, each ruled by a sequence of signs derived from a Lot.
From the Lot of Spirit, releasing describes career, vocation, and life direction. From the Lot of Fortune, it maps the body, health, circumstances, and material conditions. Chaldea tracks both lenses and identifies peak periods, transitional phases, and loosing-of-the-bond moments automatically.
Peak periods, angular activations from Fortune, and loosing-of-the-bond transitions are not buried in a table. They are called out as live interpretive events.
Decennials
Decennials assign multi-year rulership to the planets according to a traditional order based on sect. They begin from the luminary of sect, then proceed through a fixed sequence of planetary periods and sub-periods.
Chaldea computes the full decennial timeline and shows which major ruler and sub-ruler are active. This adds another layer of structure, especially when the same planet is highlighted by profection or releasing at the same time.
Layered Timing
The real power appears when techniques converge. If the annual profection activates Venus, Zodiacal Releasing puts Venus in a live sub-period, and Saturn is transiting Venus, the signal gets loud fast.
Chaldea does not compute each timing technique in isolation and leave you to do the synthesis alone. It looks for convergences across systems and elevates them so the important periods stop hiding in the noise.
