What Is Electional Astrology?

Traditionally that means scanning ephemerides, checking dozens of conditions, and balancing competing priorities by hand. Chaldea does the heavy lifting computationally, scanning the upcoming sky and grading the windows instead of pretending every day is equally usable.

Six Purpose-Specific Rulesets

Different undertakings need different charts. A relationship election is not a medical election, and a travel chart should not be judged like a company launch. Chaldea includes six domain-specific rulesets:

1. Business and launches. Prioritizes a strong 10th house, benefic support to angles, and a capable Ascendant ruler while avoiding obvious public-facing affliction.
2. Contracts and agreements. Focuses on Mercury, the 7th house, and relationship between the rulers of the 1st and 7th, while heavily penalizing void-of-course Moon.
3. Travel. Watches the 3rd and 9th houses, Moon condition, and Mars afflictions that traditionally suggest trouble on the road.
4. Medical and health. Applies traditional surgical and treatment logic, especially around the Moon, Mars, and the body part being treated.
5. Relationships and marriage. Looks for support to Venus, the 7th house, and a Moon moving into benefic configurations rather than harsh ones.
6. General purpose. A balanced fallback for endeavors that do not cleanly fit the other categories.

The Window Scanner

Avoidance Rules

Some conditions are broadly negative across nearly every election, so Chaldea screens for them automatically. That includes void-of-course Moon, key planets retrograde on angles, Moon applying directly to malefics, malefics on the Ascendant, and important significators rendered combust.
